Text Messaging Police Tips - Targeting teens as informants

In Boston the police department started a program to allow informants to SMS their tips to detectives. This is great as the atrget informants are teens.  They are more apt to text mesage a tip than to call.  About privacy.  Well, Verison will set a server sitting in the middle of the transaction that ensurs that the text message is anonymous.  New York and Los Angeles public safety officials have experimented with SMS to 911 dispatchers, however,  Boston is the first to take text messaging to informants.
