Infospace Mobile Inc. Sues Gelfand, Rennert, & Feldman

InfoSpace is alleging defamation, trade libel, tortious interference with contract and tortious interference with business relations against Gelfeld, Rennert, & Feldmen.
InfoSpace, a mobile entertainment and search solutions provider, was pushed to use Gelfand Rennert & Feldman as their auditing firm hired by record industry giant EMI to review its books. Last January EMI hit InfoSpace with a $100 million lawsuit claiming that InfoSpace was underpaying royalties. They also claim that InfoSpace sold ringtones without the correct licensing rights.

InfoSpace countered in Washintogton State court last July claiming that Gelfand Rennert & Feldman forced EMI's hand by assembling an audit containing "false, malicious and unjustified statements" about InfoSpace's business.

Reported, and filed, allegations from InfoSpace include that the auditors demanded confidential information with no impact on EMI-owned licenses. They also refused to conduct a systems audit and based its conclusions on royalties owed on a "series of extrapolations and guesswork not grounded in verifiable fact or permitted by professional auditing standards."
