Apple iPhone - In need of a makeover already?

The iPhone had a rough start as the overwhelming response was that it was too expensive with limited applications and functionality.

So of course the hackers did their work to brutte-force their wishes. Adding roag applications to the sexy iPhone to give it some life- functionality Apple's reply-they sent firmware updates to those iPhone's to stop the customization.

In reality- Apple needs to allow third party developers to develop for the little gem. It would be nice to have a
platform for building and releasing application widgets that run natively on the iPhone.

It is reported that iPhone has a new version of it's OS X's Dashboard in the works. This would be a move in the right direction as the dashboard would support HTML and JavaScript dashboard widgets. These of course will be sold through iTunes no doubt.
So-you can get some more functionality but don't expect to see them open this up past the iTunes website. Well they may allow AT&T to sell selected widgets as a key partner. We will have to wait and see.
