Google faces-off with Facebook

Facebook is feeling the pressure of hard core competition. Opponent- enter Google.

Previously known as the "Google" search engine - the company has rapidly evolved in to a mega-power house. Their next piece of the pie - Social Networking.

Google is developing OpenSocial application programming interfaces (APIs) that will rival companies like Facebook. Google plans to launch with a standard set of these APIs. They can be used for building social applications that target social networking web sites such as Facebook.

This announcement comes about five months after Facebook announced it was opening their platform to third-party developers. Now the fun begins-or maybe the nightmares for others!
