Microsoft can't say Yahoo yet

Yahoo is still pushing back Microsoft's acquisition talks.
The New York Times reported that Microsoft is gearing-up with a
takeover bid by launching a proxy contest this week.

The New York Times claims that Microsoft was planning on nominating directors to the Yahoo board. Nice strategy. You can bet that Yahoo is feverishly checking out all their options including continuing their negotiations with AOL.

One option is for Yahoo to delay their acqusition attempts by extending their deadline for nominating directors. These directors would include Microsoft's nominees.

Yahoo can delay making the selection for 10 days after announcing a date for its annual meeting-which has still not been released. Their last meetings were in June 07. Under Delaware laws, the must hold meetings within a 13 months time period. So they have 3-4 months to get a deal in place before their board could change in favor of Microsoft's takeover strategy. Google in my opinion should buy Yahoo! Creating some very cool "GoogleHoo" services! GoogleHoo is copyright by me-hehe!
