Vonage hits the Courthouse wall - CEO resigns
A jury in Virginia found that Vonage infringed on three of Verizon's patents. They were ordered to pay damages to the tune of $58 million dollars. Reports state that last week the judge in the case ordered an injunction that would bar Vonage from signing up new customers. However - they were granted a temporary stay of the injunction by a federal appeals court.
Vonage's business is already suffering. I have already installed Jajah for use at my offices with a 2 cent fee for calls over 5 minutes. Note - this concern is not just in the US. The Vonage service has also had problems in China and other areas of the world. It may or may not be related - but their CEO Michael Snyder has resigned -effective immediately. Vonage Chairman Jeffrey Citron has been appointed as an interim CEO. PS - "Google" Jeffrey Citron's background from 2005!
Check out Jajah!
