Clearwire-Testing for WiMAX performance

Clearwire, near Potland Oregon, plans to deploy mobile WiMAX soon. Recently they completed their first phase for mobile WiMAX services testing.

In the test trial they used their 2.5 GHz spectrum and infrastructure equipment based on the 802.16e standard.

The trial covered approximately 15 square miles.Investors Intel and Motorola also participated.

The focus was on throughput capacity, coverage and speed/performance using a mobile WiMAX laptop card.

Reported results claim that
laptop users experienced speeds between 2 Mbps and 4 Mbps with peak speeds reaching 10 Mbps.
Note-the company reported that the test was "modest" when revealing the actual number of users participating. Humm, maybe not so "real-world" afterall
