Eye-Fi - WiFi memory cards land $5.5 Million

Eye-Fi, California based developer of WiFi memory cards, just raised $5.5 million in a first round of financing. Eye-Fi's WiFi card replaces the SD card in the digital camera and is designed to upload and send photos from digital cameras to computers and social-networking sites.

When the card detects a WiFi network you can send the photos to a Mac or PC without any intervention from the user. The funding came from Opus Capital and Shasta Ventures.
