Sprint & Mobile Shopping
Sprint, UPC codes and 30,000 retail locations?
Sprint and GPShopper announced the launch of Slifter. A mobile search application enabling shoppers to search for product availability and location - all using Sprint GPS technology.
Slifter (what a name)lets you enter a product name, keyword, model number or UPC code. From there it finds the closest retail store that has the exact item in stock. Reports say that Sprint already has 30,000 retail locations across the U.S with more than 85 million products to search.
Once you find the item, you can save the item to a mobile shopping list and then text the items to your friends and family lists. No word of or options at this point. Sprint's GPS applications applied to the shopping removes the need to look for locations on the Net-and forget calling the store too. You will have the details you need-right on your cell.
Inventory managers and buyers better gear-up for this one. Not much room for errors! The service will supposidly cost $1.99 per month. Humm. That's not much. Sounds like they might be benefiting somewhere else here?
