AMD Winding-down Manufacturing - Ongoing battles with Intel has taken a toll

AMD, a chipmaker based in Sunnyvale, California just released a new product roadmap. They confirmed that "Barcelona" is coming still cvoming out in August. They also confirmed that their "Puma" mobile architecture is on shcedule for a 2008 release.

As far as what they plan to release in 2010:
- Bulldozer -Server and workstation markets
- Bobcat- Targeting Laptops
- Falcon- Integrated CPU/GPU part partially based on Bulldozer

The main issue for AMD is their ongoing bloody battle with Intel. Thisng are looking a bit glim. It is evident that AMD is leaping out of the manufaturing business. Their entire 2010 line of chips will be manufactured completely by third parties. Leading up to 2010, they will mix their manufacturing with some in-house fabrication while the rest whill be outsourced. Note - Intel related legal battles may actually turn out positive for AMD. Look for a brief post on a followup thread.
