Sun Microsystems product manager James Eagleton Blasted Microsoft

Suns' Product Manager publically accused Microsoft of starting a "Cold War" and "Patent Terrorism".....

Recently, Sun Microsystems product manager James Eagleton reportedly told ZDnet Asia a strong and controversial one-liner...then he went on to add a bit more to fuel the wild-fire in the open-source community. Eagleton said that Microsoft's patent-wielding tactics were basically "patent terrorism"-reportdely in his words. He went a bit further to add that Microsoft essentially started a "cold war" with the open-source community.

HERE is yet another quote:
"That's totally, from Sun's point of view, going against the spirit of innovation around software," Eagleton said of Microsoft's patent claims. "No one, certainly in the OS development community, wants to have these doubts lingering over them, especially users. No one (wants a situation) where you have to think, if I go and use this open source software, who knows who's going to come after me for damages and claims."

Eagleton also named IBM & Sun as two large vendors who are working toward making their code bases more "open". Microsoft and the open-source community have always been at odds and Eagletons' comments won't stop them. Hey Eagleton-it's one thing to speak out against Microsoft not supporting open-source. But drop the war rederick - we get enough of that on the news. War is far more serious than Sun, Microsoft and open-source!
