AMP'd Mobile Sold in a Fire Sale to Prexar Mobile
If you are an AMP'd user don't sweat. The low-flying wireless provider Prexar Mobile signed an agreement to acquire all of Amp'd Mobiles' strategic assets.
CLEC USA Telephone manages Prexar Mobile which launched in 1999 offering local and long-distance voice services.
The one hickup in the deal is that their business models aren't quite synching up though. As you may know- Amp'd targeted young subscribers with postpaid and prepaid plans. In the new service Prexar will only offering subscribers postpaid rate plans. However, they are trying to put prepaid plans capability into place to accommodate the younger market.
As far as what kind of money was involved to put this deal in place is still unknown. I am sure whatever it was -it was like a firesale - or more like a curbside donation.
