gPhone - Google just may trump Apple's iPhone and slam Yahoo once again...
Googleme mobile...?
Two weeks ago I reported that a huge change was in the air-literally.
It happened-today the FCC set their guidelines for the 700Mhz spectrum auction just around the corner.
Google's potential bid was reported to be slated for $4.6 billion dollars. Wouldn't surprise me if the Taiwan rumors are true. That Google is already cranking on making Google Phones in Taiwan. Humm..the gPhone is a good name Oh-that's my name for it-not a released name.
I do not think this chunk of cash was put into play to help the FCC - but to strategically position Google -once again over Yahoo and now Apple.
The significance is the bar will be raised on the turf Google dominates.
Heat will be on Apple and Yahoo to get just a little, or a lot, more competitve.
But the real impact- one third of the available 700 MHZ spectrum will be offered with "open access. Oh- and I guess FCC chairman Kevin Martin will get the first gPhone...
