iPhone with RFID?
There are reports on the Internet that claim that Apple is researching the use of RFID with the iPhone.
"Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of an object (typically referred to as an RFID tag) applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader". (Wikipedia)
iPhone RFID capability would mean that the iPhone would support the use of RFID tags. An example of the use of such tags today are mainly in the supply chain for logisitcs and order management process. They are also used in drivers licenses, credit cards, merchandise tags and many other things.
As far as the iPhone- RFID tags could transform the phone into a payment device, an identification device, a TV remote control and even a car key. Of course heavy security measures would need to be applied to these phones depending on what task they are performing. We will wait and see!
