Sterling Service Contracts- Sterling Commerce develops "duration-based" services lifecycle management product
Sterling Commerce recently announced a breakthrough product
named Sterling Service Contracts.
The product manages what they call "duration-based" services. This product is very unique to other order lifecycle management products. In general terms, those products manage the lifecycle of purchase orders where there is a buying process with a set fee. These applications are not designed to accept the parameters required for industries like the TelCo sector.
An example of "duration-based" services are cellular contracts. The lifecycle management of cellular service contract purchase requires fields unique to this market sector. The parameters/processes may include things like a specific cellular service package, promotion, service maintenance terms, equipment upgrades, insurance, warranties and subsciption terms.
Sterling is in a perfect position to create this leading-edge product as they are a subsidiary of AT&T. They were able to work with their team and customers to define the exact product requirements. This is key in fully addressing the industries unique processes and business requirements.
Sterling's architecture is designed to be flexible because it is what is called "rules-based". This means that companies have the flexibility to define the parameters associated with various activities, employees and consumer to business processes/ business to consumer processes. Activities may include; servicing of contracts, customer useage, billing plans, warranties, and/or consumer sevice options.
Cellular contracts, or any service that is duration-based, can leverage this product to streamline the buying process. This also provides the ability to manage post-sales activities such as; upgrades, renewals and cancellations. I am already thinking about other industries that could use this technology!
Sterling Service Contracts is part of the Sterling Multi-Channel Selling Solutio(aka Comergent eBusiness System).
