Bioethics - Medicine or Malice?

California Scientists successfully developed Human Embryo's

This announcement sparked Bioethics Professor Arthur Kaplan to call for new laws to restrict the use of scientifically created human embryos.

This is VERY controversial and clearly-like many advancements-this can be used in a destructive manner.

The conversations to follow will clearly be around the restricted practice of cloning. Such as, use strictly for medicine (diseases) but not for cloning people. That's like saying the Internet can only be used as an informative library. NOT!

One thing is clear. This is not new. Many countries are further along in cloning research and advancements than the US. Even if the US places restrictions on human embryo creation - other countries will not be restricted.

The bottom line. We need a global coalition that agrees to define practices and uses that are acceptable when developing and using human embryos. For those of you in the dark- this means they could clone another human being literally. I am very mixed on this topic due to the potential pitfalls that could be devistating in the wrong hands....imagine....
