Motorola Spinning-off Handset Business

Motorola is spinning-off their handset business. They are planning to create two independent publicly traded companies.

One is for Mobile Devices and the other delivering Broadband & Mobility Solutions. The Broadband & Mobility company will keep the enterprise and home networking portion of the business.

However, details about the strategy are still undecided and have not been formally announced. Such as; Will these companies use the Motorola brand? What about the services and systems-will they be shared? More interesting, how will they dole out the intellectual property! They have some time to decide as the spin-off is rumored to happen in 2009. We will keep you posted as more is released.
